Craftsy Block of the Month

Today I’m going to show you my progress on the Craftsy Block of the Month.  I have 10 of the 10 months done which means YES – they are all done!  I’ve really enjoyed this Block of the Month series.  Each month a new technique has been introduced.  I’ve tried things I’ve never tried before.  Realized I enjoyed doing things I never thought I would (hexagons) and was really glad I only had to make two blocks with a certain method (curved piecing).  Regardless of it all – in the end I’m going to have a gorgeous, unique sampler quilt that taught me a lot about quilting.  Here are the final two blocks.  The last month focused on paper piecing.

Paper Piecing Blocks - Craftsy BOMThis was the first block we had to paper piece.  You can see that I had some difficulties with this one.  I just wasn’t as precise as I should have been – I’m guessing more starch would have helped.  I seem to always be extra challenged trying to sew wedges together…Paper Piecing Blocks - Craftsy BOMTo me, this was actually an easier block to paper piece than the first one.  Things just seemed to go together more smoothly.  I surprise even myself that I don’t mind paper piecing at all.    blocks 1 through 20 for the Craftsy Quilt AlongHere are all twenty of the Craftsy Block of the Month Blocks in the order I made them (from left to right).  You can see all the fun we had working on this!  I’m also loving the red/turquoise/grey color scheme.   20 Craftsy Blocks!I had to play around with the layout a little bit and the blocks will get mixed up.  I have to decide what I want to do for sashing.  I’m sort of thinking some sort of funky piecing thing using the techniques I learned throughout the 10 months to bring the whole thing together.  So much fun! Do the fabrics on these tree ornaments look familiar?  I love finding cool ways to use up random scraps!

So – what do you think?  Feel free to share with me your Craftsy Block of the Month blocks too!  I would love to see what you came up with!

  1. Kim, I love the fabrics you've chosen to do this sampler. You have taken the craftsy BOM up a notch! I recognize a few of the fabrics in your blocks too.
