Apple Season Update

I have to admit it … I haven’t been sewing very much these last few weeks.  We’re into apple season again … so I’ve been doing apple season type things.  I’m going to try to update you weekly on what’s going on at the orchard but you can always stop by my orchard blog or facebook page if you’re interested in more details!

We have four little goats that are very entertaining.  Pictured above is Whoopie Pie and we also have Pumpkin Pie Sweetie, Andes Mint, and Hippo.

The kids’ help me paint this great fence – great for photo ops!

I had to get the gift shop ready … with all the fun and random things that my mother-in-law, daughters and I create – including quilts!

We buried a boat in our backyard so kids could play on it.  Of course – I had to paint it in a patchwork theme.IMG_1856

And of course apples!  We grow 60 varieties of apples at our orchard.  We’ve already picked about 10 so far and it’s not even September yet.  I would say that our most popular early apple is the Zestar! for eating and the Paulared for baking.

The first month is not crazy busy at the orchard so it’s always fun to catch up with customers we haven’t seen for almost a year and this year I’ve been surprised with how many new folks have come to visit us.  I think my favorite part is to see everyone so excited about fresh, crisp apples!  Stay tuned for more updates on apple season!

PS … we even have a mini quilt shop in the apple store.  We’re mostly selling patterns, fabric by the yard, hand dyed fabric, fat quarters and scrap fabric by the pound!

  1. I love the fence and the boat. Such creativeness. Wish I lived near you so I could come buy apples and visit the shop. It all looks so apple-ing!! My husband would jokingly give the geese nick names...Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter. They never ended up on the table.
