9.5–A Stitch in Time–Challenge 5 of Project QUILTING Season 9

PQ_instagram-A-Stitch-in-timeProject QUILTING is heading into it’s fifth challenge week.  I seriously can’t believe how amazing this season has been.  Did you know that 486 quilts were made in the first four challenges!?  All in just ONE WEEK!!! If you haven’t joined the “Challenge Quilts”group on facebook please head on over and see what it I’m talking about.  Everything you need to know about how Project QUILTING began can be found on THIS page.

Before I hand you over to Trish, a reminder: please read through the rules - read all the way to the bottom of this post -  and make sure you understand them. Feel free to ask questions, and we'll do our best to answer quickly. Note that photography of your finished project must be linked at the bottom of this post in order to be eligible for prizes and for the Viewer's Choice voting next week. The link up is in a square format so if you want your quilt in its entirety to show up on the thumbnail be sure to edit it into a square format.
Hey - it's Trish. We can't be almost done, can we? But don't give up yet - because I've got TWO FABULOUS CHALLENGES in store for you yet this season!
Let's dive right into PQ9.5.
How many of you have been waiting for a challenge where I worked in the season number? Well, today may be the day! Or maybe not.A0AA662E-FB31-4924-BAEB-E277EFC5684B

"A Stitch In Time"

See what I did there? It alludes to the number (because we know that a stitch in time saves NINE), but it's more subtle. And very, very open to interpretation!
1. Your project must literally or figuratively interpret the idiom "a stitch in time saves nine"
2. Incomplete or unfinished does not qualify. Every challenge piece must be a FINISHED project seen through from INCEPTION to COMPLETION during the challenge timeline (March 4 to 11, 2018). Each piece must stand alone as DONE to count toward prizes.
3. Please remember that these projects need to be created during the week of the challenge (started on or after March 4, finished by March 11).
4. Your project does not need to be a traditional quilt, but must meet at least one of these requirements:
  • Include patchwork.
  • Include appliqué.
  • Have 3 layers stitched together by hand or machine.
5. Link up a blog post, instagram post, or public facebook post to the linky at the bottom of THIS PAGE by Sunday, March 11, 2018 at noon CDT. Alternately, you may email the picture and description to {lapaceksorchard at gmail dot com} with PROJECT QUILTING in the subject line by 11 am on Sunday, March 11. Yes - that deadline is one hour earlier because it requires more work for Kim.
When you create your PQ entry's blog post or instagram, please include:
  • a description of your creative process,
  • the overall size of your project (it's so hard to tell in a picture!)
  • where you are (ie, I create in Lodi WI)
If you decide to just directly upload your image to the link up party please email Kim this information so it can be shared with everyone else.
Please use the hashtag #pqseason9 when posting on social networking sites to help spread the word about this fabulous quilting challenge!
Share progress pictures on Facebook, Instagram, and your blog - seeing your process and how you get to the final project is part of the fun!

Make sure you like Project QUILTING on Facebook. We also have created a ‘Challenge Quilts’ Facebook Group for you to share your thoughts, questions, and friendship on PQ and other quilting challenges. Just ask to join.
And a bonus ask: take the time to seek out and thank all of our amazing sponsors! A little sugar goes a long way, and we couldn't do it without them. This week's sponsors include:  Perkins Dry Goods, Wednesday’s Creations Studio, Aurifil, Hunter’s Design Studio, Warm Crochet, Sew Sweetness, Color Girl Quilts, Hungry Hippie Sews, Marcia’s Crafty Sewing & Quilting, Wefty Needle!

Good luck and show me your best work!
- Trish

Please be sure to post your FINAL project just below HERE. VERY IMPORTANT!

I want to remind everyone that these challenges are meant to be inspirational and FUN!  If you are feeling stressed just take a minute to look back at the “Words … “ post Trish did before Season 8.  It’s a classic and should be revisited every once in awhile. Every week that you enter a piece for the challenge you are entered into a hat to win one of the amazing prizes from our sponsors!  Be sure to check out THIS post for all the prizes up for grabs this weeks and to thank our awesome sponsors!  Our Ultimate Weekly Sponsor this week is Perkins Dry Goods.   There will also be a special prize for the ‘Public Vote’ winner of the week.   AND, if you finish the challenge in the time allotted your name will also be added into the final hat at the completion of the season for an opportunity to win the GRAND PRIZE!  Inspiration, quilting, fun AND Prizes!?  Can it get much better?IMG_0195
I couldn’t resist sharing a picture of nine tsum tsum’s … 3 of which are Stitch!  Capri has quite a collection of these fun Disney figures.

There are a few of us who can’t qualify for prizes but still want to share with you what we created for the Project QUILTING challenge. I’ve created a special link up for us! Not only will we be linking up here but if you didn’t finish the challenge in time you’re welcome to link up below so folks can see your finished project – whenever that may be!

Didn't finish your quilt for the A Stitch In Time Challenge on time? That's okay! You can't win prizes but we still want to see what you did! Please link up your finish project below - anytime! This is going to be a never ending link up!

  1. Super clever to use the time theme on the day we set our clocks back to lose an hour! :-) Not sure it that was intended but it adds a new spin!

  2. Well, it looks like I will be sitting this one out. Time was just not of my side this week. I really like what everyone has done so far! Thank you for putting this Challenge together and I will be patiently waiting for challenge #6!

  3. I had issues with my picture this morning. It keeps getting cropped and I’m missing the edge of my quilt. Any suggestions?

  4. Bravo to everyone's creative works. It was a lot of fun to vote.
